Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What Are Standard Home Elevator Dimensions?
As with many home elevator questions, the answer will depend on the unique layout of your home. At Arrow Lift®, the standard interior cab for a home elevator is 15 square feet. But what about the space you’ll need to install an elevator?
Generally, when installing an elevator in your home, you will need a space that is at least 5′ x 5′, or 25 square feet of floor space. Please note that these are interior shaft dimensions that do not include the thickness of the shaft walls. However, our experienced team can examine the area and develop alternative options in many smaller spaces. In large spaces, you’ll have a range of elevator installation options. You can learn more about standard house elevator dimensions here.
How Long Does It Take to Install a Home Elevator?
Adding an elevator to your home involves a multi-step process. The installation phase typically takes anywhere from one to two weeks, depending on the elevator’s complexity. Before the installation phase is the design and construction process, this process has a lead time because it requires coordination between the elevator company and other trades.
Take a detailed look at the installation process and factors that influence the timeframe here.
How Much Does a Home Elevator Cost?
Home elevator prices can range between $35,000 and $50,000. Some home elevators cost less than $35,000, and some high-end, luxury home elevators cost more than $100,000. The cost depends on the design options (standard vs. custom made), the drive system and the construction costs.
What’s unique about Arrow Lift® is our ability to work with a wide range of budgets. This means that we can work one-on-one with you to find the system that best aligns with your desired home elevator cost range. What Is the Weight Capacity of a Home Elevator?
The weight capacity of a home elevator varies depending on the type of elevator and the size of the cab. Home elevators have a weight capacity from 350-1400 lbs. More specifically, vacuum elevators have a weight capacity from 350-525 lbs, standard 15 square foot elevators have a weight capacity of 950 lbs, and LU/LA elevators have an 18 square foot footprint with a weight capacity up to 1400 lbs.
Are Home Elevators Wheelchair Accessible?
Most residential elevators are large enough to fit a wheelchair. However, this depends on the type of elevator you’re looking for and its function/purpose.
What Are Some Safety Features That Arrow Lift®’s Home Elevators Offer?
All of our private residence elevator models adhere to the ASME Safety Code. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) establishes norms and standards to protect the safety and quality of mechanical devices, such as elevators.
